Trujillo's deposit in Banreservas ends up in favor of the State

A 76-year-old financial deposit made by former Dominican dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo in the Banco de Reservas (Banreservas) has officially been resolved in favor of the Dominican State. The decision concludes a prolonged legal battle initiated by two of Trujillo's children, who sought to recover the funds originally intended for their mother, Lina Altagracia Lovatón Pittaluga.

The contested funds had been tied up in the courts for decades as part of the legal fallout concerning assets associated with the Trujillo family era. The final ruling in favor of the State prevents the descendants from reclaiming the historical deposit, closing a notable chapter of litigation regarding property and funds linked to the former regime.
