Dogs allowed: Animal hospital opens doors to Japan quake survivors and their pets

Ryunosuke Animal Hospital in downtown Kumamoto has opened its doors to provide temporary housing for earthquake survivors and their pets. The facility, located in an area recently struck by a powerful earthquake, has converted space within the hospital to accommodate evacuees who are unable to stay in standard shelters with their animals.

The hospital has established separate rooms for owners of cats and dogs to ensure the safety and comfort of both the animals and the displaced residents. This initiative addresses a critical challenge for survivors, as many public emergency shelters do not permit pets, often forcing owners to make difficult choices regarding their animals' care during the recovery period.
