Driver airlifted to hospital after rollover crash on Palmetto Expressway in Miami Lakes

First responders rushed to the scene of a crash that occurred overnight in Hollywood.It happened in the area of Hollywood Boulevard and 26th Avenue just before 3:30 a.m., not far from the Hollywood Branch Library. Local 10 News cameras captured two damaged vehicles at the scene, a black pickup truck and a white Jeep Wagoneer. Both were left mangled with shattered windshields and deployed airbags, A tow truck operator at the scene told Local 10 News’ Linnie Supall that the driver of the pickup was speeding on Hollywood Boulevard when he lost control, hitting one of the heavy garden rocks on the median.

That caused the pickup to go airborne, crashing into the Jeep as it was entering a roundabout, according to the tow truck driver. Hollywood police were observed at the scene and are investigating the circumstances that led up to the crash. They have not provided any official information as to what led up to the crash and whether there will be any arrests or charges.

According to authorities, one of the vehicles involved in the crash rolled over.Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said driver man was taken by helicopter to an area trauma center, but their health condition was not provided.Traffic was backed up in the northbound lanes of the Palmetto as crews worked to clear the crash scene.
