Earthquake in Junín: Peruvian geologists discover new faults after the earthquake that confirm the reactivation of the Mantaro Highlands

Following a 5.5 magnitude earthquake that struck the Junín region of Peru on July 18, 2026, geologists from the Instituto Geológico, Minero y Metalúrgico (INGEMMET) have identified new geological fault lines. These findings provide evidence of the reactivation of the Altos del Mantaro area.
