Development and the environment

Environmental degradation and climate change impacts are increasingly visible in the Dominican Republic, marked by declining river water levels, severe droughts, flooding, increased sargassum, and extreme weather phenomena. Despite these observable changes, skepticism regarding the influence of human-induced climate change on environmental deterioration persists among some segments of the population. The discourse highlights an ongoing push within Dominican society to adopt greater environmental responsibility in the face of these compounding ecological challenges.
