An exponential Ebola epidemic is currently affecting the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (RDC). According to reports dated August 21 in Geneva by Isabel Saco for EFE, the geographic spread of the outbreak now covers a territory larger than France.

Simultaneously, the region is facing an acute liquidity crisis. This severe lack of funds is directly preventing authorities from paying essential healthcare and community workers who are responding to the epidemic on the ground.
