“Homicides have not overwhelmed us”: Minister Astudillo insists that the crime wave is a problem of public perception

Peruvian Interior Minister César Astudillo defended the government's handling of crime before Congress, asserting that homicides have not exceeded last year's figures or the response capabilities of the National Police. He insisted that the ongoing crime wave is primarily an issue of citizen perception rather than an institutional failure.

Separately in Spain, People's Party (PP) leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo pledged to secure the country's border against potential mass migration events. Feijóo stated that he would invoke Article 8 of the Spanish Constitution if necessary to prevent situations resembling the border crisis in Ceuta.
