Former Bosnian Serb leader Biljana Plavsic dies in Belgrade

Former Bosnian Serb leader Biljana Plavsic has died in Belgrade, Serbia. Her death follows a political and legal history defined by the 1992-1995 Bosnian war.

During the conflict, Plavsic played a prominent role in atrocities that led to her prosecution. She subsequently pleaded guilty at a United Nations tribunal to persecution as a crime against humanity.
