French court blocks Macron’s social media ban for under-15s

France’s Constitutional Council has blocked a proposed legislative ban on social media access for children under the age of 15, delivering a political setback to President Emmanuel Macron. The country's top court ruled that the restrictions infringed upon fundamental rights, specifically freedom of expression and privacy.

President Macron, who had championed the legislation, responded to the ruling by vowing to rework the measure. He has directed his prime minister to draft revised legislation, while the Élysée has confirmed that the French president remains determined to advance restrictions on minors' social media use despite the judicial roadblock.
