The ‘Tinder’ of industry: Buenos Aires’ bet to ensure SMEs are not left out of the mining and energy boom

The Unión Industrial de la Provincia de Buenos Aires has launched an initiative described as an industrial "Tinder" to help local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) participate in the ongoing mining and energy economic boom. The strategy is deployed against the backdrop of an industrial contraction in the region that resulted in the loss of nearly 8,000 jobs over the past year.

The initiative also coincides with intense ongoing debates regarding local procurement rules and domestic supplier requirements under the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI). By connecting smaller regional industrial suppliers with major mining and energy projects, the initiative seeks to integrate local businesses into large-scale capital ventures.
