Coco Gauff reaches Toronto semis by walkover due to Belinda Bencic hip injury

World number four Coco Gauff advanced to the semi-finals of the WTA Toronto Masters by a walkover on Tuesday. The progression came after her opponent, Belinda Bencic, was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to a hip injury.

Prior to the walkover, Gauff held a strong 6-2 career head-to-head record against Bencic. This season alone, Gauff had previously defeated Bencic at Wimbledon and during the quarter-finals of the Miami tournament.
