Hospitals report 50% fewer Haitian women giving birth

Between January and July 2026, public hospitals in the Dominican Republic recorded a 50.4 percent reduction in childbirths by Haitian mothers, according to data from the National Health Service (SNS) repository.

Specifically, the number of deliveries dropped from 11,951 during the same period in 2025 down to 5,931 in the first seven months of 2026 within the country's public healthcare network.
