Sanidad recomienda el uso de gafas y mascarillas en Madrid y Ávila por la mala calidad del aire, con niveles de contaminantes “muy por encima de los que recomienda la OMS”

The Military Emergency Unit (UME) has established a unified command to coordinate efforts against wildfires currently burning in the Community of Madrid and the province of Ávila. These fires have already destroyed more than 15,000 hectares of land, necessitating the evacuation or confinement of approximately 63,000 people.

In response to the crisis, the head of the UME, Francisco Javier Marcos, announced the new operational structure to streamline firefighting efforts. Simultaneously, the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has issued a formal message of solidarity directed toward the citizens displaced and affected by the ongoing emergency in both regions.
