Marlaska calls for an end to the violence in Ceuta and announces 35 million euros to extend border breakwaters

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior has announced a series of extraordinary measures to reinforce the border between Ceuta and Morocco. The plan includes extending the breakwaters at Tarajal and Benzú, installing a permanent maritime containment system using anchored buoys, and deploying an aerial surveillance network utilizing drones. These infrastructure upgrades are intended to enhance border security and control in the region.

Minister of the Interior Fernando Grande-Marlaska has requested European funding to support an investment of 35.6 million euros for the breakwater extensions. This announcement follows an official call from the minister for the cessation of violence in the area, framing the infrastructure project as a response to the current security challenges at the border.
