Japan welcomed approximately 3,098,900 foreign tourists in August, representing a 9.6% decrease compared to the same month in the previous year. The data was released by the Japanese government on September 16.

The decline in visitor numbers is attributed to a continued reduction in travel from China. This trend coincides with ongoing diplomatic tensions between Beijing and Tokyo.
