A tourist from the United States died after being struck by lightning while hiking on Sicily’s Mount Etna, authorities said Monday, in a tragedy that occurred as officials continued to restrict access to portions of Europe’s most active volcano because of ongoing eruptive activity. Italian firefighters said the victim, a 29-year-old man from Kansas, was caught in a storm Sunday evening while trekking on the mountain, The Associated Press reported.
