Europol's alert about museum thefts reached the Villena museum one day after the theft of the Villena Treasure.

The Treasure of Villena was stolen from the Museo de Villena (MUVI) in Alicante, Spain, on August 27. A warning from Europol regarding an increase in museum thefts across Europe was received by the museum administration on August 28, one day after the incident occurred.

The Valencian Department of Culture confirmed the timeline by identifying a list of three emails sent by the Generalitat's Museum Service, all bearing the subject line 'Europol Information.' These communications were dispatched the day following the theft, highlighting a delay between the issuance of the European-wide security alert and its arrival at the local institution.
