A severe drought combined with high temperatures is impacting multiple European nations, leading to diminished crop yields and reduced water levels in major waterways such as the Danube. Countries including Austria, France, Hungary, Romania, and the United Kingdom are experiencing the effects, which also pose operational challenges for nuclear power facilities due to the drop in water levels.

In Austria, the agricultural sector has faced significant losses, with cereal harvests falling 18.4% compared to the previous year. This output is also 12% lower than the five-year average, according to data from the national public agricultural agency, AMA.
