Businesses celebrated the repeal of 11 circulars from the Ministry of Labor: what changes for employers and workers

The Colombian Ministry of Labor has issued Resolution 2708, which formally repeals 11 internal circulars. The Ministry acknowledged that these previous directives had established regulatory requirements, procedures, and sanctioning criteria that lacked the proper legal authority to be implemented through internal circulars alone. This regulatory adjustment is intended to streamline administrative processes for employers and clarify the scope of labor oversight.

Separately, Colombia is currently managing the aftermath of a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred on August 10. The disaster has resulted in 329 confirmed fatalities, 4,592 injuries, and 234 missing persons, with over 324,000 individuals affected. The event has significantly disrupted the national economy, leaving 43% of businesses unable to operate, with micro-enterprises experiencing the most severe impact.
