Lost Tarpon Springs Icon Found in an Aegina Church

A religious icon that left Florida over a century ago has been discovered hanging in a church on the Greek island of Aegina. The painting was originally given in 1910 to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Tarpon Springs by immigrants from Aegina.

Tarpon Springs, located on the Gulf Coast of Florida, was and remains a prominent center for Greek sponge-diving families.
