Millions urged to evacuate as powerful Typhoon Dujuan hits Japan

Japan has faced a powerful severe weather event as Typhoon Dujuan made landfall, prompting authorities to issue widespread evacuation advisories affecting nearly two million people across six prefectures, including the capital city of Tokyo.

In response to the approaching storm, Japan’s Meteorological Agency initially issued severe warnings, cautioning residents of an "imminent threat to life" due to the storm's destructive potential.

While the dangerous weather conditions prompted massive precautionary displacements, updates from the meteorological agency indicate that the severe life-threat warnings have subsequently been downgraded in the majority of affected regions.
