Ratko Mladic, the "butcher of Bosnia" and Srebrenica genocidaire, dies in The Hague

Ratko Mladic, the former Bosnian Serb general known as the “Butcher of Bosnia,” died at age 83 while in custody in The Hague. He had been serving a life sentence for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity committed during the Bosnian conflict. His death occurred while he was hospitalized under the supervision of the international tribunal.

Mladic was a central figure in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 8,000 Muslim men and boys.
