Nepal and China resume flood rescue after lake threat eases, death toll tops 500

Rescue operations have resumed along the Nepal-China border following a temporary suspension caused by the threat of an overflowing lake in the Himalayas. Authorities determined that the risks posed by the lake were manageable, allowing teams to continue efforts to address the aftermath of severe floods and landslides in the region.

The disaster has resulted in a death toll exceeding 500 people. According to the Red Cross, the flooding and landslides have impacted more than 93,000 individuals, highlighting the significant scale of the humanitarian crisis in the affected border areas.
