Reggae artiste Nesbeth is one of the mainstays powering a new dancehall project, the Well Wet Riddim, released by independent label Steve Gong Production. The multi-artiste project brings together global hitmakers, respected veterans and rising talent. Leading the charge are two records built to command attention: Sean Paul and Chronic Law’s heavyweight collaboration Nuh Wah Yuh Leave and Nesbeth’s defiant new anthem Beat Every Case.
The pairing of Sean Paul and Chronic Law immediately gives the project international appeal. Sean Paul’s unmistakable delivery and decades-long global influence collide with Chronic Law’s introspective lyrics, contemporary sound and powerful connection to dancehall’s current generation. On Nuh Wah Yuh Leave, the two artistes bring different eras and creative approaches together on one riddim, creating an intriguing bridge between a Jamaican superstar who helped carry dancehall around the world and one of the genre’s most recognisable modern voices.
But another song is demanding its own share of the spotlight. Nesbeth steps forward with Beat Every Case, a survival anthem rooted in resilience, determination and the will to overcome whatever obstacles life places in the way. Best known internationally for the inspirational hit My Dream, along with records such as Success Story and Guns Out, Nesbeth has built his reputation by transforming personal struggles into music that resonates far beyond the dancehall.
With Beat Every Case, that fighting spirit once again takes center stage. The title delivers a bold declaration: no matter the opposition, circumstances or challenges, the mission is to overcome them and remain standing. That message gives Nesbeth a distinctive lane on a riddim loaded with contrasting personalities and subject matter.
The wider Well Wet Riddim features Munga Honorable and Goody Plum with Drunk and FK, Joseph Stepper with Buy Gun, Macka Diamond with Boy Bye, Ginjah with Give It Up, Delly Ranks with De Link and Pookie Pon with Mi Clean. Laza and RaJah round out the project with It’s All Mine. Instead of relying on a single sound or generation of artiste, Steve Gong Production has assembled a diverse dancehall package in which established names and emerging voices share the same musical platform.
Still, two songs sit firmly at the centre of the conversation. For Nesbeth, Beat Every Case offers another opportunity…
