A judge has ordered the closed detention of the minor under investigation for captaining a boat carrying deceased migrants in Cartagena.

The Section of Minors of the Court of Instance of Murcia has ordered the precautionary closed-regime detention of a minor investigated for allegedly piloting a migrant boat. The vessel, a patera carrying at least two deceased individuals, was intercepted and rescued last Friday off the coast of Cabo de Palos, approximately 45 miles from Cartagena.

The judicial decision follows the interception of the boat during a maritime crossing. Authorities are investigating the minor's role in the navigation and management of the vessel that resulted in migrant fatalities.
