Senator and Senate group leader Paul Rosenmöller has announced that he will not stand for re-election, bringing an end to his political career following the Senate elections at the end of May next year. Rosenmöller made his decision public over the weekend, stating that the appropriate moment has arrived to pass the baton.

Rosenmöller currently serves as the Senate faction leader for PRO, a political entity that emerged from the cooperation between GroenLinks and the Labour Party (PvdA). His departure will coincide with the election of a new Senate, scheduled for May next year, at which point he will officially step down from his parliamentary roles.
