Pogacar has suffered a traumatic brain injury and a possible fracture of the left clavicle.

Tadej Pogacar, the Slovenian cycling leader and favorite of La Vuelta a España riding for UAE Team Emirates, was forced to abandon the race during the eighth stage. The incident occurred on a Saturday, between 32 and 33 kilometers from the finish line, following a severe crash.

Pogacar suffered significant injuries, specifically experiencing pain and visible damage to his left shoulder and clavicle. Following the accident, he was treated at the scene and subsequently entered an ambulance, ending his participation in the competition.
