In Peru, the vast majority of consumer safety alerts are concentrated in the automotive sector, accounting for more than 80 percent of all warnings issued since 2012. According to data released by the Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad, vehicles, transportation methods, and their corresponding parts or accessories make up 80.16 percent of the country's total consumer alerts.

The high proportion of automotive defects highlights significant safety and quality control concerns within Peru's vehicle market over a decade-long period. The findings underscore the predominant role that transportation-related hazards play in national consumer protection tracking.
