A new analysis of decades of research suggests people who are routinely exposed to pesticides on the job may face a significantly higher risk of developing amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, a progressive and fatal neurological disease that attacks nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscle movement. Researchers say the findings add to growing evidence linking certain environmental exposures to the condition but do not prove pesticides directly cause the disease, Science Direct reported.
