(Ukas pic)PETALING JAYA: The coming Sarawak state election is like a school examination and members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu must “revise” and prepare to score an “A”, party president Abang Johari Openg said today.Speaking at a PBB convention in Sibu, the party leader said the convention served as a platform for reflection and preparation, much like students do before an examination to overcome their weaknesses, DayakDaily reported.Abang Johari said the convention was an opportunity for PBB to review what had been achieved over the past five years and assess its readiness for the next challenge.“When we were in school, we would prepare ourselves before facing an examination. Things that were good, we improved.
Formulas that we had forgotten, we worked on remembering them again.“When we prepare well, we can achieve good results. This is what we are doing today," he said in a recording of his speech later shared with DayakDaily. He said PBB, as the backbone of the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak coalition, must continue strengthening itself and remain united. The party must not assume success was guaranteed simply because of past achievements, warning that complacency could affect the party’s future.“Do not take things easy.
We must get an A in the examination that is coming,” he said.GPS holds 79 of the 82 seats in the state assembly. The other seats are held by Pakatan Harapan (2 seats) and an independent. Elections to the state assembly must be held by April 2027 at the latest.
