Solwezi Council eliminates fifty‑six stray dogs

The Solwezi Municipal Council in Zambia has culled fifty-six stray and unvaccinated dogs following a recent public health initiative. The operation was conducted over the past month in response to a confirmed case of rabies in the district that resulted in one human fatality this past August.

According to the Director of Public Health, Castro Chisanga, the measure was taken by local authorities to mitigate further health risks to the community. The exercise focused specifically on animals identified as strays or lacking proper vaccination status.
