Nepal and China report 1,384 deaths twelve days after devastating floods

Twelve days after devastating floods struck the Himalayan region, the combined death toll in Nepal and the Tibetan region of China has reached 1,384. The disaster, which began on August 26, has caused significant loss of life and widespread displacement across both territories.

In China, authorities confirmed 43 deaths specifically in the Gyirong county of Tibet. Recovery efforts remain ongoing as 519 individuals are reported missing, a figure that includes 261 foreign nationals from 23 different countries.
