Transpower banks $176m profit after 64% jump

State-owned electricity grid operator Transpower has reported a profit of $176 million, marking a 64% jump from the previous year. The company generated $69 million more than the prior period, driven by an increase in regulated revenue.

The financial results coincide with the launch of a major investment programme aimed at upgrading New Zealand's power network.
