Uganda names its crude oil blend 'Pearl Sweet' ahead of commercial production

Ugandan authorities have officially named the country's prospective crude oil blend "Pearl Sweet" ahead of upcoming commercial production and first exports. The announcement, unveiled by President Yoweri Museveni, marks a significant milestone as the East African nation gears up to begin commercial operations by the end of the year.

Giving the crude oil grade a distinct commercial identity allows it to be properly priced, marketed, and sold to international refiners. The naming event took place in Uganda, with President Museveni in attendance for the official unveiling.
