A magnitude 7.2 earthquake shakes the Andean region of Ayacucho, in southern Peru

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Andean region of Ayacucho in southern Peru on Thursday, August 20. The seismic event was reported by the Instituto Geofísico de Perú (IGP), which identified the epicenter as being located 35 kilometers from the town of Coracora.
