Ms Chipoya secured victory by obtaining 20,302 votes, defeating her closest challenger, Francesca Akashambatwa of the United Party for National Development (UPND), as well as independent candidate Kaira Mulaza.
In a separate electoral outcome, the UPND secured the Chilubi parliamentary seat. Returning Officer John Longwe declared UPND candidate Mathias Chitembo as the duly elected representative for Chilubi Constituency in the early hours of the morning after he polled 10,422 votes to defeat seven other contestants.
