Warring clans vow not to fire any gunshots as peace talks progress in Lagaip District

Tribal fighting between the Kesan and Kalakos clans in the Lagaip District of Papua New Guinea has ceased following a ceasefire agreement reached yesterday afternoon. The cessation of hostilities was facilitated by swift intervention from local police forces.

Local ward councilor Ricky Upa confirmed that both factions have committed to a moratorium on gunfire as peace negotiations progress. The agreement marks a significant de-escalation in the conflict, with both groups currently restrained under the terms of the ongoing talks.
