Why finding missing workers from Nepal’s hydropower tunnels is proving to be difficult

Rescue crews in Nepal are engaged in an urgent race against time to locate hundreds of missing workers feared trapped inside hydropower tunnels. The structures were severely damaged by severe flooding that has resulted in over 1,000 deaths across Nepal and China.

At least 900 workers remain unaccounted for in the aftermath of the disaster. The search operations inside the compromised hydropower tunnels are proving exceptionally difficult as emergency responders attempt to navigate the debris and hazardous conditions.
