Africa: Correcting Africa's Map Won't Bring Prosperity - Moghalu

Kingsley Moghalu, the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has publicly addressed a recent United Nations resolution advocating for the use of world maps that provide a more accurate representation of Africa's geographical size. Speaking in Abuja, Moghalu acknowledged the significance of the initiative in addressing long-standing cartographic distortions.

However, Moghalu emphasized that such representational changes are symbolic rather than structural. He cautioned that correcting the map will not serve as a catalyst for the continent's economic transformation, noting that substantive progress requires deeper policy reforms and economic development strategies rather than adjustments to geographical depictions.
